Meet Maxx Blank
Every Sunday, we spotlight a Co36 customer — real people, real stories.
This week’s feature highlights Maxx Blank, Co-Founder of Triple Whale — the data platform trusted by thousands of eCommerce brands and over $50B in tracked revenue.
Maxx is one of the most influential voices in DTC, blending instinct, creativity, and data to help brands scale smarter. Co36 is proud to be one of them.
David sat down with Maxx to talk about entrepreneurship, turning ideas into impact, and keeping life simple where it matters most.
David: You’ve built one of the most recognized tools in eCommerce. What inspired you to create Triple Whale?
Maxx: Before Triple Whale, I had built and scaled a few DTC brands — one of them hit $10 million a year. But I couldn’t find a single place to track everything — sales, expenses, ad spend — in real time. I wanted something like Robinhood, but for eCommerce. That’s where the idea started.
David: Have you ever been broke?
Maxx: Oh yeah. After college, I had $150,000 in student debt, no savings, and no clue what was next. I started freelancing — websites, marketing, anything that paid the bills. It wasn’t glamorous, but that grind taught me everything.
David: What was your first real break?
Maxx: The first came from a brand I built with my wife — we scaled it, paid off debt, and bought our first house. But the real break was Triple Whale. Agencies started using it, people were tweeting about it, and within a year we hit $18 million. It went from side project to rocket ship.
David: If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
Maxx: Move faster. Don’t get comfortable just because things are okay. You haven’t made it yet. There’s always another level — stay hungry.
David: How do you balance building a company with family life?
Maxx: Sabbath is huge for me. It’s full disconnection and reconnection with family. During the week, I block off 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. — that’s family time. No calls, no Slack. My kids don’t care about product updates — they care that I’m there.
David: How does Co36 fit into your lifestyle?
Maxx: Co36 makes my mornings easier. I don’t overthink it — I grab a tee or a polo, and I know I’ll look good and feel comfortable. It saves mental space, and that’s huge when you’ve got a full day ahead.
