Meet Maxx Blank
Co-Founder of Triple Whale | Entrepreneur | Co36 Customer
Every Sunday, we spotlight a Co36 customer — real people, real stories.
This week, meet Maxx Blank, the co-founder of Triple Whale, the eCommerce analytics platform that took the DTC world by storm.
He’s a fast-moving builder, a natural community magnet, and someone who makes entrepreneurship look fun — even in the chaos.
David sat down with Maxx for a quick conversation about moving fast, staying scrappy, and how simplicity helps keep him focused in a high-velocity world.
David: You’ve built one of the most well-known brands in eCommerce. What was the spark behind Triple Whale?
Maxx:
It started with a real problem. Brands were spending tons of money on ads but had no clue where the returns were coming from. We were helping one of those brands at the time and realized we could build something better than spreadsheets. What began as a basic dashboard turned into Triple Whale.
David: You’re known for shipping fast and not overthinking. Where does that come from?
Maxx:
I just don’t believe in waiting. Done is better than perfect. If we can test a product, post an idea, or try something new — we do it today, not tomorrow. That’s how momentum is built. People think momentum comes from wins. It doesn’t. It comes from movement.
David: What’s the biggest misconception people have about building a startup?
Maxx:
That it’s glamorous. The reality is that most days aren’t exciting. It’s a lot of doing things that don’t scale, figuring things out as you go, and trying not to let the wheels fall off. You only see the fun moments on Twitter. But behind the scenes? It’s messy. And I love that.
David: You’re in back-to-back calls, running a team, flying coast to coast. How do you simplify?
Maxx:
I try to eliminate friction. From my workspace, to what I pack for trips, to what I wear. That’s why I like Co36 — it takes one more decision off my plate. I don’t need to think about whether I look sharp or whether something will wrinkle. I just throw it on and go.
David: What’s your favorite Co36 piece?
Maxx:
Honestly? The black crew neck. I have a bunch. It’s the perfect middle ground — not too flashy, not too casual. Just super clean and dialed in. I wear it on planes, in the office, even when I’m meeting founders.
